Witnesses blame cooking gas for the explosion, which occurred Tuesday morning in an estate owned by EFAB.
Initial reports indicate no casualty resulted from the explosion.
When contacted, Federal Capital Territory police command said they were unaware of the explosion because they are neck deep in logistics for an expected visit of the Inspector General, Mohammed Abubakar.
“I’m not aware of any explosion,” Doris England, FCT police command spokesperson said.”We are busy at the FCT command because the IG is expected here.”
She promised to make inquiries.

UPDATE: What Happened
An early morning gas explosion caused a gutting of a shopping mall at Lokogoman Village in Apo Area of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja today.
The explosion which was traced to a gas leakage caused some people to disseminate information that there was a bomb blast in the area. The bomb hoax triggered panic in Abuja earlier in the day.
