Investigations have revealed how two Nigerian billionaires, Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola are benefiting from the media war between President Goodluck Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and how they mastermind and manipulate both men for maximum gains.
Dangote and Otedola, who made substantial slice of their wealth under Obasanjo, are not comfortable the Jonathan administration is trying to break their monopoly in some sectors, thereby creating new rival billionaires.
While Dangote feels threatened by IBETO Cement Company, Otedola is no longer a major player in the Diesel and other Oil Business. Otedola is desperately trying to return back to the front role as a major oil guy but Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, who sees him as one of the cabals that have crippled the Oil sector, has constantly blocked him. She resent Otedola’s constant visit to the Villa, a source conversant with the development told Pointblanknews.com.
According to our sources as their grip on the Jonathan administration continue to slide; they develop the strategy to run back to Obasanjo who is like their godfather to kick Jonathan on sundry national issues.
It will be recalled that Dangote donated N4 billion to the second term bid of Obasanjo.
The plot worked because Obasanjo who has substantial interests in Zenon Group, and Dangote Group, also uses them as fronts for several other deals deals. They created panic in Obasanjo hinting him that if their businesses suffer, Obasanjo would be hit as well.
Pointblanknbews.com gathered that the duo prodded Obasanjo to attack first and if Jonathan is unsettled as evident in the Boko Haram indictment, they (Dangote and Otedola) would approach Jonathan and tell him they know how to handle Obasanjo.
According to sources, the strategy worked as the duo promised a piqued Jonathan they would broker peace between him and Obasanjo. The sudden appearance of Obasanjo at the Villa church, it was gathered, was the handiwork of the billionaires.
The move worked, as at a closed door meeting with Jonathan, Obasanjo appealed to him not to allow the business of his “boys” suffer. Also Jonathan felt grateful by the Otedola/Dangote gesture, not aware that it was all a set up by Obasanjo, Otedola and Dangote, to make business gains.
Otedola and Dangote are afraid that Jonathan will create a new group of billionaires. Otedola is getting broke and he holds Allison-Madueke responsible for blocking all the avenues he uses in making money. He was the one who allegedly sponsored the media to ensure that the minister did not return to the cabinet but she found out and she never forgave him.
Meanwhile, on the insinuations that President Jonathan had always been an Obasanjo’s boy before he emerged, as Governor after former Governor Diepreye Alamasiegha was disgraced from office, the source said that is far from the truth as the former President had always supported Timi Alaibe.
According to the source, “Alaibe was closer to Obasanjo through Andy Uba.
But Jonathan moved and consolidated once he became the Governor and then penetrated the Villa and that was how Obasanjo boys started relating with him.”
Also explaining how it all played out before Jonathan was picked as the Vice President to late President Musa Yar’Adua, the source insisted, “Obasanjo was never and is not Jonathan’s godfather. Jonathan is not Obasanjo’s godson.”
According to the source “Obasanjo wanted Odili as Yar’Adua Vice President.
Obasanjo boys wanted James Ibori but Nuhu Ribadu was the only dissenting voice and even when they settled for Odili, Nuhu stood his ground and exposed Odili. Obasanjo wanted the EFCC to stand down on Odili’s case but Ribadu mobilize Saraki, Otedola and Aliko and they prevailed on Obasanjo to drop Odili. So, Odili was the Obasanjo’s godson and not Jonathan.”
The source stated that the duo of Otedola and Dangote have always been around with Obasanjo purely to enlarge their business interests and continue to hold grip on vital sectors of the economy.
