$6 Million Julius Berger Bribe Distributor Set To Run For Governorship
Bodunde Adeyanju, an indicted Aide to former President Olusegun Obasanjo who confessed to receiving $6 Million bribe from Julius Berger during the Halliburton bribe scandal case has declared his interest to via for the Governor of Ekiti State on the platform of the peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Recall that Adeyanju confessed during an interrogation to collecting the sum of $6million, which was given to a former minister of state for Defence for onward transmission to a political party.
The Police had in October 2010, arrested Mr. Bodunde Adeyanju, Special Assistant to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
A directive by President Goodluck Jonathan that the investigative report into the $180 million Halliburton bribery scandal be re-opened and the major culprits re-arrested, had resulted in a fall out between former President Obasanjo and President Jonathan.
Two former heads of state, Obasanjo and General Abdulsalami Abubakar were said to have been found in the investigative report to benefit from the sharing of the Halliburton bribe money using fronts that have already confessed that they were only fronting for their principals.
It was gathered however that while Adeyanju, agreed to collecting $6million from Julius Berger, he told the panel that it had nothing to do with his former boss, former President Obasanjo.
Incidentally, when the investigation team took off from Abuja in 2010 and landed in Ibadan on their way to the home of one of the indicted persons, Mr. Bolade Adeyanju, to recover documents relating to how the Halliburton bribe money was collected and disbursed, the team was sent back to Abuja from the Ibadan airport.
Sources alleged that former President Obasanjo had pressured the Presidency and complained bitterly over the planned visit of the investigative team to home of his former aide.
Now, the former Obasanjo’s aide, has joined the growing army of aspirants jostling for the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State for the 2014 governorship election.
Adeyanju, said during a meeting with members of the PDP at Emure Ekiti in Emure Local Government Area on Friday that his ambition was divine.
He said he would dislodge the government of the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, from the state in 2014.
Adeyanju was upbeat about his chances at the poll and in an interview with journalists after the meeting, he said, “I believe I will get the ticket because God is the one behind me and nobody can stop God.”
