Fear and anxiety has enveloped the people of Azare community, Katagun Local Government Area of Bauchi State as yet to be identified gunmen besieged the town killing not less than eight people, including two police officers, prison warder and five others
It was gathered that among their latest killings was an Igbo trader, who was said to have closed for the day and was locking his shop at about 6.00p.m. when the gunmen arrived and opened fire on him, alongside his apprentice and a woman at the scene.

The mission of the gunmen are yet to be known, as they stormed the man’s shop in their numbers.
Speaking with news men on the latest development, the State’s Commissioner of Police, Mallam Mohammed Ladan, confirmed the invasion of killers in the community but maintained that the attackers were armed robbers and not assassins.
Amongst those who lost their lives in the Azare killings are; a former Controller-General of Prisons, Alhaji Ibrahim Jarma. He was shot by a two-man gang in front of his house and later died at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi.
A prison warder was also killed in the operation , while another was injured.
Yet recently, two policemen attached to the house of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and father of the state deputy governor, Alhaji Aminu Saleh, were also attacked and killed by gunmen who made away with their rifles.
