DIVORCE: 42 Years Of Battle, No Child - Retired Policeman

A retired police officer, Mr Simeon Eguavon (64), on Thursday, dragged his wife, Grace (58), before an Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos, seeking the dissolution of their 42-year-old marriage, over childlessness.
The petitioner also accused his trader wife of being troublesome.
Eguavon, who resides at Ikorodu High School Road, Agbala, Ikorodu, Lagos State, told the court that his wife fought with neighbours and also disrespected him.
“She was 16 years old when I got married to her; since then, we have always been fighting and she does not even have any respect for me, till now.
“Infact, her father took her away for one year after we got married, to enable her to know what it entails to be a married woman.
“We have had no issue in this marriage and I now want to marry another woman, to enable me to have my own child. I am fed up; I do not love her anymore,” the petitioner told the court.
The defendant, in her response, told the court to grant her husband’s prayer.
“We have not been living together since 1984; I live in one of his houses in Sango-Ota, in Ogun.
“My husband has been flirting with different women and if he has not found another woman, he would not pray for divorce. Please grant him his divorce wish,” she said.
The Court President, Mrs Risikat Ekerin, adjourned the case till Oct. 25 for judgement. (NAN)
