Abia State Governor Has Failed By Don Norman Obinna

Despite claims by the Abia State governor that an expose done by a journalist who hailed from the state was an attempt to extort money from the state government, Don Norman Obinna the journalist who catalogued the deplorable situation in the state has fired back.
Showing in explicit detail that many of the claims made by the Abia State Governor T.A. Orji in May 2013 regarding infrastructure and development within the state are completely false.
The correspondence, which included over eighty photographs detailing the actual gravity of the state’s situation and an extensive questionnaire sent to Orji by Obinna, provides insight into the issue in Abia State, and offers a drastically opposing viewpoint to that of the one published by the state’s Chief Press Secretary.
Citing a May 29, 2013 speech from Governor Orji, the report’s corresponding visual account shows that many of the projects Gov.Orji claimed to have commissioned/completed in the state were completely untouched, causing many to question the proposed “transformational agenda” of the Governor.
“Contrary to what were propagated on the traditional and social media, we saw a State characterized by conspicuous abysmal dividend of good governance,” Obinna reports.
“Dilapidated school buildings, deplorable roads, and infrastructures pervade the entire state,” he further said.
“Aba, commercial nerve centre of the state is the worst affected with flood, heaps of refuse, decomposing corpses, deplorable streets and roads and dilapidated school buildings common sights.”Seeking an official statement, Obinna then contacted the governor’s office on July 5th in order to gain some clarity from the governor on the claimed developments and use of citizens’ resources. The inquiry, which also included a 18-question questionnaire, was never answered.
