WICKED: ABU Professor Shot Dead In Zaria?


The Head of Department of Surgery, Ahmadu Bello Univeristy Teaching Hospital, Shika, Zaria, Professor Hyacinth Nong Mbibu, was killed by unknown assailants on motorcycle this evening.
The professor was on his way home after attending to his patients at the hospital after 8 p.m when he was attacked.
According to a close associate, with his death, Ahmadu Bello University has lost a very hardworking, impartial professor.
A nurse whom he gave a lift in his car at the gate of the hospital was also shot in her arm. She is presently on admission at the hospital.
For about eight years now, the late Professor Mbibu has been among the coordinators of the West African College of Surgeons.
Sources at the hospital said that his students are extremely saddened by his departure as they knew him to be a very compassionate and hardworking professor.
Prof Mbibu was also a visiting urologic surgeon, Armed Forces Hospital, as well as a visiting lecturer, Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto.
This post has been updated to indicate that Prof Mbibu was not a Cameroonian as earlier reported. He was from Takum in Taraba State, according to his bio on the website of the Ahmadu Bello University.
