Prophet Blessed Dike has stoked fire with the weird and unusual doctrines he practices at his “As God Said It Must Be Done, The Temple of the Most High God” Church and he’s reaping an inferno of rage and condemnation from Christian clerics.
Sunday Sun had published a scoop on Prophet Dike’s activities, which tend to negate all the beliefs that Christianity upholds, such as the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the belief that Jesus is God, the existence of the Trinity (the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit), the acceptance of the existence of Heaven and hell among others.
In this church, which is located at Iju-Ishaga in Ogun State, the offering of animals as sacrifice is still practiced. Prophet Dike teaches members of the church that God cannot be replicated and as such, Jesus is not God and did not die for anybody’s sins.
Since Sunday Sun broke the story, there has been an outpouring of condemnation from prominent clergymen. Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Senior Pastor of Latter Rain Assembly, Lagos was the first to throw a salvo. He says the end of people who preach such doctrines is perdition.
“I don’t react to issues, I act. People that know me very well know that I do not waste my energy on such people. He would deceive others like people before him did and others would be deceived by him. So, I advise people not to waste their energies on characters like that.
“The only sign that we are in the end times is that there would be deception from people like that. In the book of Mathew 24, when Jesus Christ was asked what the signs of the end times would be, He said that we should take heed, lest we be deceived.
“This goes to show that deception is a sign of the end times. Ask that prophet what the references of his doctrines are. For such people, I do not waste my time or my saliva. Let him keep deceiving people and I pity those who are being deceived by people like them. Like him, they would end up in perdition themselves.”
The Bishop of the Anglican Communion, Enugu Diocese, Emmanuel Chukwuma describes the prophet as an antichrist who is out to deceive the Church.
“That man is a fake prophet. It was predicted in the Bible in 1 John 4 from verse one that we should be careful of such people who are not led by the Spirit of God and that passage makes it clear that that prophet is in the same category.
“The biblical teaching about Jesus Christ is very clear. The argument about his resurrection and his birth is well explained in the book of Mathew and 1 Corinthians. As church leaders, we see that man as an anti Christ and a fake Christian.
“He must be psychotic and suffering from a mental disorder. He needs deliverance. As the South East Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), I have been to Israel and I have authenticated that Jesus Christ is Lord. On the issue of drinking alcohol, Jesus Christ is against hypocrisy. He said in the Bible that it is not what goes into a man that defiles him, but what comes out of him. So that it is what people like to misinterpret in order to indulge in ungodly things.”
For the General Overseer, Arrow Seed International Ministries, Lagos, Pastor Mike Nwimoh “Such people should not be glorified with a response. The fact that people are going to such places does not make him a man of God.
“Someone who does not believe in the lordship of Jesus Christ should not be taken seriously. A servant of God is one who has given his life to Jesus Christ and is living according to all that Christ taught us. Those who believe in that prophet need to be taught the truth because they are spiritually blind.”
A renowned Evangelist in Osun State, Pastor Sam Progress said: “I have read with concern the strange development in the church as reported by the Sunday Sun and my conclusion is that the development is nothing but a sign of the end time.
“The Bible is the symbol of our faith and whatever is against the scriptures should not be allowed in the body of Christ. As a matter of fact, we don’t need to condemn anybody so as not to be condemned but the fact is that the practice in that church is purely against the scriptural standard and, therefore, should be condemned.”
According to Pastor Progress, the head of the weird church is an agent of the devil sent from the kingdom of darkness to derail the people, adding that the practice in the church was against the Bible and urged the leadership of the church to stop the act before the wrath of God descends on the church.
“It is strange to us that a man would condemn the New Testament and even turn the scriptures upside down. The book of Revelations foretold these things. So, we expect such signs. This is one of the signs that show that the perilous time has finally come.
“It is, therefore, important for Christians to be watchful, careful and hold firmly to their belief and faith in order not to be misdirected and led astray by the demonic pastors spread across all nations of the world in this end time. One thing that Christianity teaches us is to say the truth at all times, even though we are enjoined not to condemn, but, the fact is that all the practices in the church contravene the scriptures and they are aimed at leading people to hell fire.”
Pastor Progress concluded that the church is under the control of evil spirit, just as he maintained that demons have taken over the control of the church and urged the members of the church to be wary of the effects of such doctrinal practice, which, he said, would not be palatable for them unless they change before it becomes too late.
Also, the Resident Pastor of Living Testimony Ministry, an Osogbo-based church, Pastor Titus Babalola said it is all heresy. “The man is preaching heresy and is doing everything to lead people to hell. I pray God opens the eyes of the people to see the truth. He is an agent of the devil from the kingdom of hell. Such deceit doesn’t last. Even those who did it in the Bible regret all that they did. The whole thing is a lesson to the real children of God. It teaches us that the end has come. So, my advice for the real children of God is to move closer to God as we are in the very end of the world, and everything we are seeing now is telling us that the second coming of Christ is at hand.”
The weird church has also been described as not a church but devil’s workshop. The General Superintendent of Christ House Bible Ministry, (a.k.a Winner Prayerland), Pastor Clement Aromolase said whoever attends such church is a candidate of hell.
Aromolase warned worshippers to be wary of end time churches as their doctrines are nothing but evil. He described the church as a shrine of demons, arguing that, “there is nothing biblical in what they are doing there.”
In another reaction, a pastor with Jubilee Worship Centre, Asaba, Delta State, Rev. John Albert said Jesus is the perfect sacrifice for mankind, hence pouring of libations and making animal sacrifices were unnecessary for man’s salvation.
“Jesus made the perfect sacrifice for us and I do not need to do any sacrifice because Jesus was the perfect sacrifice. The cross was the highest altar, so whether you do sacrifice or pour libations, it is not as high as that of Jesus Christ,” he said.
The cleric who would want to be dragged into doctrinal issues, insists that it is not in dispute that Jesus is the son of God who came and died for the redemption of mankind.
“John 3:16 says that ‘God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him would not perish.’ This means that Jesus is the Son of God. Even in the Old Testament, Moses talked about Jesus. He said God would give us a prophet that is better than he is.
“The sacrifice that Abraham did when he wanted to sacrifice his son was a symbol of the sacrifice Jesus offer. This is the way we put it in Theology, Jesus in the Old Testament was concealed, Jesus was in the New Testament revealed.
“He was in the Old Testament concealed means that means they were talking about Jesus but he had not come. But he was revealed in the New Testament because the ram by Abraham symbolized Jesus.
“Gradually Jesus began to be unveiled in the New Testament. I don’t know where he got his own, but we believe that Jesus is the Son of God. And if Jesus is the Son of God and he died, I am also a son of God.”
For the General Overseer, the Lord’s Crusade Assembly, Owerri, Apostle Victor Oluchukwu the heretic practices in most of the churches today is an indication that occultism has invaded the church of God.
“In recent times, evangelism and Christianity have been messed up by so-called men of God. Any discerning mind would know that some of these people were called by the spirit of Incubus and these mermaid spirits that have been fighting the spirit of the true God, because it is written in the Bible that by their fruits you shall know them.”
“I am sure that any person who claims to be a prophet of God would not say that the New Testament and the gospels are not the mind of God. That is blasphemy. The New Testament is the root of the Christian faith because Christ Jesus established the church by commissioning his apostles to preach the gospel throughout the world. So the gospels were the written account of what the Lord Jesus Christ said and did while on earth. And for anybody to describe it as the opinion of men is ridiculous. Yet, the person calls himself a prophet?”
