The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that it is holding the House Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr. Chidi Lloyd.
In a statement today, public relations officer Frank E. Mba said Mr. Lloyd reported yesterday at Force CID, Force Headquarters, Abuja, in response to a summon earlier issued by the Police High Command.
“The Honourable member who arrived Force Headquarters at about 4.00pm, in company of his lawyers is currently helping Police investigators in efforts at unraveling the circumstances surrounding the crisis that occurred in the hallowed chambers of the House of Assembly,” he said. “The lawmaker has commendably, so far shown a high level of cooperation with Police detectives. Meanwhile, his interrogation is still ongoing.”
Mr. Mba recalled that the Force summoned Mr. Lloyd and two others last week Wednesday to come and explain their roles in the current crisis in the Rivers State House of Assembly especially in connection with some video footage published in the media.
Promising a quick, fair and unbiased investigation, the Inspector General of Police assured Nigerians that the Force will do everything within its power to ensure that justice is not only done, but manifestly seen to be done, the spokesman said.
