Emmanuel Emenike: brace puts Nigeria ahead of Ethiopia
Emmanuel Emenike was the star of the Nigeria-Ethiopia clash in Addis-Ababa today, scoring a brace to put Nigeria’s first leg in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Emenike first scored the equaliser in the 67th minute, after Ethiopia’s midfielder the 20 year old, Behailu Gobeze Assefa had shocked the Nigerian Super Eagles out of their doldrums on the 57th minute.
Nigeria took control of the match thereafter, dictating the pace and notching several missed opportunities in front of the Ethiopian goal.
The clincher came via a penalty in the 88th minute. Emenike wasted no time, two minutes after and slotted the ball in the right hand corner of the Ethiopian goal post.
