TOO BAD: 4 Chinese, 2 Nigerian Kidnapped?


Gunmen  suspected to be militants on Monday abducted four Chinese nationals  and two Nigerians working for Hyundai Heavy Industries  on the outskirts of Okpoama Island, Brass Local government area of Bayelsa.
Bayeslsa  State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Fidelis Odunna  confirmed the incident
Community sources contacted  on the phone said  that among those kidnapped was the Operations Manager of the firm, who was only identified as Mr. J.H. Kin.
It was gathered that the armed militants  had invaded the assembly  site  on the South Korean firm in their speed boats at about 3.30pm, blindfolded their victims and took them off in their waiting speed boat to an unknown destination.
An eyewitness stated that the operation  took the oil workers unawares as many of the staff who witnessed the incident were said to have scampered for safety.
It was also gathered that operatives of the Joint Military Taskforce (JTF) and Police have been deployed to the nook and crannies of the creeks to track down the kidnappers and secure the release of the expatriates.
No group has  so far claimed responsibility for the action.
Hyundai Heavy Industries  is a leading service company to  the Brass Liquefied Natural Gas Company (BLNG).
