The Niger state Disaster Management Agency (NISEMA) has completed arrangements to commence the disbursement of money donated to the Madalla Christmas day bomb victims of 2011 by the Central Bank of Nigeria. The money will be handed out on Monday.
The Agency initially planned to disburse the N25m today Tuesday but had to shelve the plan because of a police case involving one of the Reverend Fathers of the St Theresa church Madalla and some of the beneficiaries.
NISEMA Director General in the state Mohammed Saba told Daily Times that the Reverend father and some of the beneficiaries were in Minna to answer questions from the police on a kidnapping case which involved the religious leader and some of the victims.
“We have completed arrangement to commence the disbursement of the money next Monday we already have the approval of the government and the Reverend of the St Theresa church’ Mohammed Shaba said”
According to him, the Church will have the highest share of the N25m when it will get N5m while the highest amount to be got by the victims is N1m and the lowest N350,000.
He however explained that the 47 beneficiaries are property owners who did not benefit from the previous assistance given by governments apart from building materials released to them by NEMA.
