Staffers of Arik Air in Maiduguri, Borno State have continued to shot changed unsuspecting passengers who are not aware of the ongoing Valentine slash of fares to all destinations across Nigeria Pointblanknews.com has gathered.
Sources at the Maiduguri International Airport said ticket racketeering as well as the shot changing innocent air passengers have continued since the Management of decided to slash air fares to all destinations across the country.
The source added the Arik Air staff have been feeding fat as result of the fare slash nothing that ” millions of Naira have realised form the dubious and fraudulent acts of the staffers”
” The new fare from Maiduguri to Abuja is put by the Arik air management at N17.581 but staffs ensures passengers pay between N26,000 and N30,000 there by jeopardising the real essences of cut in the Air fare. Same thing applies to the Maiduguri – Lagos rout which new fare is 27,000 but officials of Arick Air still sell tickets at the old N45,000 and diverting the extra charges to their personal accounts.”
A staff of Arik Air who is not happy with the sharp practices of his colleagues said the slash in the air fare was not only because of the valentine season but as a result of pressure mounted on the Management in view of public outcry on high fares but wondered why passengers are still being short changed by their staff.
Pointblanknews.com. also gathered that most passengers that went to the airport with the hope of travelling were either forced back home or had to resort to borrowing to pay off the additional fare increase.
” This is very unfortunate, I was here long before some people arrived and gave additional money to the staffs who later told me that the promotional fare is no longer available. This is un fare, if the management can not embark on a promotion they should have left the fare the way it was.”
“I wonder. Why the staff of Arik Air will be treating their passengers with disdain. , I had to look for extra money to pay up so as to catch my flight to lagos ” an aggrieved passenger told Pointblanknews.com.
When the officials of the airline were contacted they denied ticket racketeering adding that the ticketing is being controlled from their Lagos office.
