Micah Yohanna Jiba New AMAC Chairman?

FCT ELECTION: Micah Yohanna Jiba of the PDP returned as AMAC Chairman
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has began the release of the results of the FCT Council elections which held across the Federal Capital Territory on Saturday.
Daily Times kept vigil at the Karu Zonal Office of the Commission throughout last night until the result of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) was released at exactly 3.30am this morning with the returning Officer Dr. Yusuf Ali declaring incumbent Chairman of the Council Micah Yohanna Jiba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner.
Jiba got a total of 16,841 votes to defeat his closet rival Adamu Abdullahi of the Congress for Progressive (CPC) who polled a total of 7,055 votes while Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Phillip Okolie came third with 2,527. The fourth position went to Chukwuemeka Diugwu of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) who got 1,208 votes.
Immediately after the result was announced, an obviously elated Hon. Micah Jiba told Daily Times that he was quite confident of winning the election because of the love the people of the Council have for him.
He thanked the numerous people who worked for him and the people of the municipal area for having confidence in him as to return him to the seat.
Jiba who was in company of some aides, promised to work harder to make life more meaningful to the people of AMAC through better and improved quality service and called on all those who contested along with him to join hands with him to develop the area saying “We all are one. I want all of us to work together.” There were wide jubilations and drumming outside the INEC office while he spoke, to the admiration of his supporters.
FCT Council elections took place in six area councils yesterday. Daily Times will bring you results of the other five councils in due course.
