BORNO STATE: Civil Servants, Resign Or Die - Boko Haram

Despite the State of Emergency and the onslaught of the Nigerian security forces which forced its members to relocate from their main strongholds in Borno State, members of the Boko Haram sect have continued to unleash terror on citizens.
Street Journal gathered that members of the sect murdered at least 15 people including the district head of Kurana Bassa.
Residents of Gwoza and Bama, two border towns in Borno state have been at the receiving end of violence since the terrorists were driven out of their camps by government troops. The terrorists also burnt several houses after which they issued a threat to all civil servants in the two towns to resign or risk being killed.
Fleeing residents reported that the letter which was written in both Hausa and Kanuri languages warned all those in the civil service to resign and burn their employment letters within the next seven days or be killed.
The fleeing residents disclosed that it cost about N 7,000 per person to make the trip from the area to Maiduguri as they had to take bush routes. Before the state of emergency, the journey was said to have cost about N 300.
They also disclosed that to make their escape, some had to hide in caves while some residents, especially on the outskirts of Gwoza were left with no other option than to escape into Cameroon.
