OPINION: Did Akala, Ladoja Fail Oyo People?

Akala, Ladoja failed Oyo –Tinubu
National Leader of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu yesterday in Ibadan berated the two former governors of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja and Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala for poor governance and predicted their new found political friendship doomed to fail.
Tinubu, spoke at the commissioning of a flyover at Mokola, one of three projects executed by Governor Abiola Ajimobi in the state capital tagged ‘Legacy Projects’ to mark his two years in office. The Mokola Bridge is described as ‘Transformation Bridge,’ while the other two projects are: Ultra Modern Garage, Podo and the Ultra Modern Neighbourhood Business Complex at South Camp, Challenge.
Drawing contrasts between the past Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regimes in the state in which the two ex-governors served and the ACN administration, the former Lagos State helmsman commended Ajimobi for the life-transforming projects. He blamed the two for alleged lack of vision, saying: “They were enemies of progress.
“When we were campaigning, we asked the people not to be frustrated. We told them not to be disillusioned, that help was on the way, help is here now. I read recently that some of them are collaborating. The old enemies, who chased themselves out of office with cudgels, cutlasses and guns.
They said they wanted to collaborate again. They failed before and they will fail again. They were down before, they will be down again. Whatever evil they continue to put together, they will continue to fall like a pack of cards.“We helped them before, let their conscience tell them, I Bola Ahmed Tinubu did what I had to do to protect the character, principle and content of our democracy for him. What did he do? He is a dog who went back to his vomit.
You will see genuine commitment to transformation, you will see change in education, health and you will see empowerment. He urged the people of the state to keep supporting the governor and the ruling party for greater transformation and better living standards.
In his speech, Governor Ajimobi said: “In the past, political office holders failed in their responsibilities. The responsibility of a governor or office holder is herculean and should be given to a serious minded person. We are standing on the threshold of history. We have been able to show the world that this administration is an intelligent one.
“We have built another bridge 35 years after the first bridge was built by the military. This is why I congratulate us for being here today. I congratulate our leaders who chose us to be here today.”
