Mahmud Tukur
The judge gave the permission on Tuesday.
An Ikeja High Court on Tuesday granted permission to Mahmud Tukur, son of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, to travel to Britain for business purposes.
The court also permitted Mahmud’s associate, Alex Ochonogor, to travel to the same country for the same reason.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) charged the two men with N1.8 billion fuel subsidy fraud.
They are standing trial along with their firm, Eterna Oil Plc, and Abdullahi Alao, son of prominent businessman, Abdullazeez Arisekola-Alao.
Ruling on applications for permission filed by Mahmud and Mr. Ochonogor, Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo ordered the EFCC to release their international passports to enable them to travel.
Mr. Onigbanjo, however, ordered them to return the passports to the commission not later than June 16.
He adjourned the matter till June 27, for hearing of some pending applications filed by the accused persons.
