Nigerians from all walks of life gathered at the Palace of Emir Ado Abdullahi Bayero on Friday and offered special prayers to Allah for guiding the longest serving Kano monarch on the throne for 50 years.
Bayero praised God for sparring his life 50 years after climbing the Kano throne.
The prayers was supervised by Chief Imam of Kano, Professor Sani Zharadeen, Sheik Mohammed Nasiru Mohammed, the Chief Imam of Waje mosque.
The men of God commended Bayero’s faith in God and prayed that God will continue to sustain him and guide him.
“We pray for Allah to continue to give the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero the strength to lead Kano through his fatherly advice to Nigerians, good health, long live and prosperity so as to accomplish his reign and journey in life,” said the Chief Imam.
And the elated Emir Bayero said, “I have nothing much to say than to thank Allah for sparing my life to witness these years on the throne as the longest serving Emir of Kano. It is not by my doing; it is through the help of Allah that I was able to have a good and understanding relationship with all the Governors that governed the state during my reign.
“There is no any reason in particular for that statement, only that I am expressing my gratitude to Allah who made it possible for me to see the coming and departure of many Heads of State, who either died or left at the end of their tenure. Every soul must taste death at the time appointed by Allah, so what is left for us is to pray to Allah for his mercies and forgiveness and to take our as Muslims when our appointed time comes.”
Fielding questions from journalists on how he was able to contend with a number of tribulations that has befallen him in recent times, the Emir said,“In fact, I don’t even know what shock is. What I believe is that whatever happens to me on this earth is destined to happen to me by Almighty Allah. So there is no point in showing any fear, as whatever happens to any person is already pre-destined to happen to him. Therefore, wherever such things happen whether good or bad, what is required from that person is to thank Allah; if it is for good, exercise patience.
“Alhamdulillah, all praises are due to Allah who through all assistance made it possible for me to witness these years on the throne, which is a feat that none of my predecessors have achieved. I thank all the people of Kano and the country at large for showing me great love during this time and to have succeeded despite the surmounting challenges because as I always say whoever puts his trust in Allah and follow instruction as prescribed by Islam in whatever he does, that person has nothing to worry about. So it is through Allah’s assistance that we succeeded all these years.”
